INPOWER was born out of a shared, powerful conviction by its founders: that no family in Lebanon should navigate the journey of diversity and mental well-being in isolation. Driven by their personal and professional experience, they recognized a critical gap in accessible, dignified, and sustained support for parents and children. Their vision was to establish an organization dedicated not just to treating challenges, but to actively dismantling stigma through empathy and empowerment in educational institutions and communities.
Lama Darghouth El Moghrabi brings a powerful blend of personal conviction and strategic expertise to INPOWER to Support. Her academic foundation, featuring a background in Sociology and two Master’s degrees from Université Saint-Joseph, Beirut, equipped her with the critical lens to identify profound social gaps in mental health support. This perspective was key to shaping INPOWER’s community-based approach.
With over 15 years of professional experience across the Middle East and the rigorous SPHRi certification, Lama possesses the proven track record necessary for scaling a high-functioning NGO. The organization’s core program, the Parents Support Program, is a direct evolution of her personal initiative. Lama successfully initiated and led support groups in partnership with the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Department at the American University of Beirut- AUBMC, (two groups) and the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon- CCCL (one group).
This early success revealed the immense inner power of the parents and the unique strength of each child, which became the direct inspiration for the name INPOWER to Support. Having witnessed the transformative power of peer support, she co-founded INPOWER to extend this vital, empathetic mission to all families across Lebanon.Â
Mirna Hammoud is a vital co-founder bridging INPOWER to Support’s community work with the critical need for systemic legal change. Holding a Bachelor of Law from Beirut Arab University, Mirna brings over 20 years of professional experience from international corporate environments, alongside deep, active engagement in various social initiatives. Her legal expertise provides the strategic foundation for INPOWER’s focus on Advocacy.
Mirna is driven by the conviction that the law must enforce social work and unconditionally protect the rights of every individual. She champions the urgent need to advocate for supportive legal frameworks that enforce inclusion and ensure mandatory awareness programs, which is key to dismantling discrimination. Her contribution ensures that INPOWER’s vision influences lasting, governmental change.
